Correct selection of color coated steel plate

Jul 28,2022

A reasonable choice of prepainted board can not only meet the requirements of use, but also minimize costs. If the material is not selected properly, the result may be that the material performance exceeds the use requirements, resulting in unnecessary waste, or it may not meet the use requirements, resulting in degradation or unusability. Therefore, the purchaser should attach great importance to the necessity of selecting the color coated board, and should consult with relevant experts if necessary.

The selection of pre-coated plate mainly refers to the selection of mechanical properties, substrate type and coating weight, front coating properties and reverse coating properties. Usage, corrosiveness of the use environment, service life, durability, processing method and degree of deformation are important factors to consider when choosing color plates.

The substrate type and coating weight are mainly selected based on factors such as use, corrosiveness of the use environment, service life and durability. Anti-corrosion is one of the main functions of the color coated board, the substrate type and coating weight is the main factor affecting the corrosion resistance of the color coated board, the building color coated board usually uses hot-dip galvanized substrate and hot-dip aluminum-zinc alloy substrate, mainly because the corrosion resistance of these two substrates is better.

The selection of positive coating performance mainly refers to the type of coating, coating thickness, coating color difference, coating gloss, coating hardness, coating flexibility, adhesion, coating durability and other performance choices.

Commonly used topcoats are polyester, silicone-modified polyester, high-durability polyester and polyvinylidene fluoride, and there are certain differences in hardness, flexibility, adhesion and durability of different topcoats. Polyester is currently the most used coating; Silicone-modified polyester modifies polyester through silicone, and has high durability and gloss; High-durability polyester not only has the advantages of polyester, but also improves in durability, and is cost-effective; Polyvinylidene fluoride has excellent durability and good coating flexibility. The topcoat is mainly determined according to factors such as the use, corrosiveness of the use environment, service life, durability, processing method and degree of deformation.

Commonly used primers are epoxy, polyester, polyurethane, and there are certain differences in adhesion, flexibility, corrosion resistance and other aspects of different primers. The adhesion between epoxy and the substrate is good and the corrosion resistance is high; The combination of polyester and substrate is favorable and has excellent flexibility; Polyurethane is a primer with relatively good comprehensive properties.
